ABOUT THE ARTIST
JOE PINO
After
arriving on Cape Cod as a retiree, the natural beauty of the
environment awakened a latent desire to paint, in oil, my view of
the wonderful world around me.
Oil
paints are a very forgiving medium for the artist providing
flexibility moving the medium on a support. This medium permits the
portrayal of
form
in rich vibrant colors. “The Wonderful World of Color”. Sketching
as a youngster, sometimes even in class, was a rewarding activity.
Studying the Great Masters and in later years enjoying painting
shows on PBS, such as Bob Ross. Helen VanWyk and others removed the
mysteries of painting that inhibited me through the years. Their
composition, technique and use of color set ground rules and
examples that encourage my desire to portray art on canvass or
board.
And
finally, talking with local artists and peers in the Guild of
Harwich Artists has encouraged me to participate in a gratifying
avocation.
