Joyce
Hawk is a watercolorist whose skills were born in her childhood.
Surrounded by an artistic family, she became familiar with a variety
of media at an early age. This culminated in a love of land and
seascapes, as well as a variety of other subject matter such as
gardens, wildlife, and people.
Joyce
was educated at Blackstone College and The Art Institute of
Chicago. While living in Connecticut, Joyce studied with Herb
Olson, Mac Squires, and Hans Maleen. She has created scenes from
her trips to other countries, as well as the shores of New England
and the coastal hills of California.
She has exhibited
in many juried shows, and taught watercolor classes for 30 years.
Joyce was a member the Nantucket Artists Association for 25 years,
and has had two one-person shows at the Kenneth Taylor Gallery on
Nantucket. She is a member of the Guild of Harwich Artists, and
exhibits her work in two Harwich galleries, The 820 Main Gallery and
The Gallery of the Guild of Harwich Artists. Joyce is also a
talented musician: she plays the piano, and sings in The Mid-Cape
Chorus as well as the Choraliers, and in the Pilgrim Congregational
Church Choir. |
