Pat Arre was educated in
Connecticut and and enjoyed a lengthy career in critical care
nursing. She took a few painting classes for relaxation, but didn't
have the time to develop her skills. Upon arrival on Cape, she found
a vital and active network of working artists who once again piqued
her desire to pursue her love of painting.
Pat's
medium of choice is acrylics, a versatile paint used transparently,
opaquely, or built up with additives for an impasto look. "Whether I
use a brush or palette knife, this medium is always a challenge to
use. " Painting becomes an extension of myself. It is important to
become immersed in the relationships of the elemental things of
life....sea...sky...earth, and the impact that light has upon
objects surrounding me. I find a never ending source of inspiration
in the beauty of God's creations, and feel honored and humbled to be
able to interpret what I see onto canvas."
"I like to
find scenes with natural reflections, a mirror image that is
slightly altered by environmental influences such as wind and light.
Color is interpretive, as elements in a scene play on one another.
The values depend on position, space, light"
